Despite recent reports claiming that he will not be pursued by the Gunners, Arsenal have nonetheless been presented with the chance to sign Christian Eriksen for a remarkably low fee of just £12m.
The figure, reported by ESPN, is considerably less than the £16.9m Inter paid Spurs for Eriksen. Interestingly, that is only just over 25% of his current £45m market value, as per Transfermarkt.
Eriksen has endured a difficult spell with his current club Inter Milan, who are said to be strongly considering selling the former Ajax man less than a year after they snapped him up in a cut-price deal from Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham.
After joining Spurs from Ajax in 2013, the Denmark international managed 69 goals and 89 assists in just over 300 appearances for the Londoners, averaging a goal involvement roughly once in every two games.
However, his record at the San Siro is comparatively abject: a meagre four goals and three assists in 34 games pales in comparison to the performance levels that Antonio Conte’s side would likely have foreseen when they signed him 10 months ago.
The Daily Express had previously reported that several major European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, look set to fight it out for Eriksen – giving the Gunners plenty of competition even if they did want to sign Eriksen.

The price touted may well change Arsenal’s apparent stance on Eriksen.
Hailed by his former Denmark coach Morten Olsen as a ‘wow footballer’, the low fees touted are a particularly attractive prospect. However, it is unknown as to whether Arsenal would indeed be tempted into a purchase if the reported price is indeed true.
