Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta may have only been in the job for a matter of days, but it is claimed that the Hungarian midfielder could be the first player to arrive through the doors in January.
Szoboszlai has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for some time following his impressive performances in the Champions League.
He’s just one member of the Salzburg team that has caught the eye, with Erling Braut Haaland, Hwang Hee-chan and Takumi Minamino all earning rave reviews this season, with the latter joining Liverpool.
Speaking about his future to Hungarian TV station M4 Sport, Szoboszlai hardly denied rumours of a potential move away either, claiming ‘we will talk in January.’

This would be quite the signing for Arsenal if they could pull it off in January.
Szoboszlai is an exciting player that won’t be short of suitors when he does eventually leave Salzburg. After already losing Minamino to Liverpool, they might be keen to keep as much of their squad together as possible until the summer at least.
The report discusses the potential move for Szoboszlai as a replacement for Mesut Ozil.
Across all competitions this season, he has five assists, four more than the aforementioned German.
As someone who can play centrally but also float into wide areas, he has the versatility that would make him a real threat in the Premier League.
