Granit Xhaka has been discussing his role as the captain of Arsenal this season, and it’s safe to say that several Gunners fans have found his comments rather amusing.
The Switzerland international recently spoke about what makes a good leader, as he attempts to establish himself as a mainstay in Unai Emery’s starting line-up this season.
Xhaka is now a long-serving player for Arsenal, but it seems he has still failed to win over the whole Gunners fan-base, with these fans mocking his comments about the captaincy…

Read Arsenal’s verdict
These criticisms of Xhaka are brutal but truthful. He’s simply not consistent enough to be relied upon as a top-level club’s leader, and Arsenal may be best-placed identifying a more natural fit for the captaincy.
Xhaka has had his fair share of good games in a Gunners shirt. However, reckless mistakes and lapses in concentration have hindered his progress since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach, and he remains a scrutinised figure among the club’s fan-base.
For now, at least, Xhaka should focus on his performances. If he can develop consistency and nail down his place in Emery’s starting line-up, perhaps then he will be regarded more widely as the leader of this Arsenal team.
