Alexis Sanchez will reportedly turn down the opportunity to leave Arsenal when the January transfer window opens, according to The Mirror.
However, it is also believed that he will join Manchester City in the summer as a free agent in a deal worth £400,000 per week.
As is well known, Sanchez’s current contract at the Emirates runs out in the summer, and so he is able to talk to other clubs on a pre-contract agreement at the turn of the new year when the transfer window opens.
Pep Guardiola is confident that he can wait until the summer to get Alexis’ signature, even though French giants Paris Saint-Germain still remain interested.

Manchester City did try and sign the Chilean in the summer, with a £60m bid rejected by Arsene Wenger. However, the Citizens may get him without having to give any club a single penny.
Sanchez is in the same position as Mesut Ozil, whose contract also runs out in the summer of 2018, and is also able to talk to other clubs, with Barcelona and Guardiola’s city rivals Manchester United interested in the German.
If Sanchez were to head to the Etihad, he would have competition for a place in the starting XI, competing with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, etc.
However, if Pep is willing to make Sanchez one of the best-paid players in the world at £400,000 per week, he must be keen on his former player, who he managed in Barcelona.
