Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has to start his recovery process from “zero” after having more surgery on his achilles, with manager Arsene Wenger revealing that he will be out of action at least until February, according to a report on FourFourTwo.
The Spaniard has already spent over a year on the sidelines due to multiple surgeries and now that period is set to extend even further.
Earlier in the year, there were suggestions that Cazorla was thinking about retiring from football due to his struggles with injury, but the playmaker dismissed those reports and insisted that he wants to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.
Wenger said:
It’s really, really sad. But unfortunately, he has to start again from zero. That means if all goes well, he has to wait until he can run. And after, when he starts to run, it will at least take six weeks to come back to training. When he will be able to start to run again, I don’t know.
The Spaniard also nearly came close to amputating his foot after an infection but the 32-year-old is adamant to regain full fitness and return to the side.
Whether he will be the same player though, is questionable as a lengthy injury spell like his can take its toll.
