Everton have joined the race to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud for £20 million, according to the Mirror.
The 30-year-old’s future at the Emirates Stadium is expected to be under threat with the imminent signing of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette for a club record fee.
The Frenchman’s opportunities were already limited last season and the signing of Lacazette will only move him further down the pecking order.
Giroud has already been linked with a move to West Ham and Ligue 1 side Marseille, however, recent reports in France have stated that he allegedly prefers to remain in the Premier League and thus ruling out a move back to his home country.
With the World Cup in Russia taking place next summer, Giroud will be looking to nail down a starting place in a bid to maintain his place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
Everton are in the market for another striker and with Romelu Lukaku likely to leave Goodison Park this transfer window, Giroud would be seen as a direct replacement.
The Toffees have been one of the busiest English clubs so far this summer, already completing the signings of Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen and Henry Onyekuru.
