Arsenal are set to beat a number of competitors to the signature of Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, reports the Daily Star.
Van Dijk has been the subject of interest from a number of big clubs. The report suggests that Arsenal are set to beat the likes of Manchester City, Everton, Liverpool and even Chelsea to secure the Dutchman with talks thought to be underway.

Van Dijk joined Southampton from Celtic last summer and has gained many plaudits during his spell on the South coast. However, his season is already over as an injury has ruled him out until August at the earliest, leading many to believe they won’t see him in a Saints shirt again.
The 25-year-old would smash Arsenal’s record transfer fee by over £10 million, easily surpassing the £38 million spent on Mesut Ozil. Van Dijk would also become the most expensive Dutch player in history, overtaking Memphis Depay’s £25 million transfer to Manchester United.
