Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder and captain, Granit Xhaka, has been linked with Arsenal for a while now and it is being reported that the deal is close to being finalised.
German newspaper, Bild, originally reported that Arsenal were interested in the Swiss midfielder back in March of this year but it seems Arsene Wenger looks set to make him his first summer signing when the transfer window opens in July.
The transfer fee is being reported around the £30 million region which would suggest how highly Xhaka is rated by the Arsenal manager.

The Gunners look set to offload a number of central midfielders in the summer; Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky, so the signing of Xhaka will be a necessary one to strengthen the midfield.
It is understood in Germany that the transfer sum will be split into three parts: an initial transfer sum, a £4 million signing on fee and £1.8 million agent payment.
A weekly salary of £120,000 thousand is currently being discussed by both parties and the player’s agent.

Xhaka has scored three goals in 35 appearances this season and will represent Switzerland at the European Championships this summer in France.
He could be the essential deep-lying playmaker that Arsenal need.
