Arsenal hosted relegation battling Norwich at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. Amid huge fan protest before the game, Arsene Wenger needed a crucial three points in order to help secure a position in the top four.
Surprisingly to some, both Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud started the game for the Gunners. Olivier Giroud has been desperate for a goal, as last week, he registered a streak of 14 Premier League games without a goal- the third longest this year.
As the first-half drew on, it seemed Giroud’s goal drought would continue. Predictably Norwich parked ten men behind the ball and looked to counter, and to be fair to them, it worked. Arsenal looked narrow and non-threatening; while Norwich looked to counter and managed to force two saves from Cech.
The game came to light, however when Danny Welbeck came on early in the second-half. After a clever knock down from Giroud, Welbeck smashed home the only goal of the game. The goal lightened the mood in the stadium, and the team seemed slightly more confident.
After a somewhat nervous last 15 minutes, Arsenal limped through to register a crucial three points. With all this said, let’s have a look at what we learnt from the game.
