Arsenal are ready to target Genoa’s Mattia Perin after missing out on German keeper Loris Karius, report The Mirror.
German U21 keeper Karius is set to join Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Arsene Wenger has had issues this season with who to pick in goal and this was highlighted no more so than when Wojciech Szczesny was dropped at the weekend against Stoke City.
Wenger has now turned his attention to Italian shot-stopper Perin who is impressing this term at Genoa in Serie A.
Perin has already kept clean sheets in home victories over leaders Juventus and AC Milan this season which has sparked real interest in the 22-year-old.
It is said that the Italian, who has made 54 appearances for Genoa, would cost any team looking to buy him £12m, with his potential still yet to fully flourish.
Perin has already made 1 senior appearance for the Italian national team, when he replaced Sirigu for the last 17 minutes of a 1-0 win against Albania back in November 2014.
The player’s agent, Moreno Roggi, has confirmed that Liverpool have made contact with Genoa over a move for his client in recent times.
“I would like him to remain in Italy, but only clubs from abroad can afford a goalkeeper that €20m.
England? It’s a possibility”
Below are some of Perin’s highlights…
Do you think Perin is the right goalkeeper and is is worth spending £12m on a position we already have two international players in?
